November 2, 2017: The rotating art collection in Widener Law Commonwealth's Gallery during the month of November is the " WWI Poster Collection" on loan from the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center located in Carlisle, PA. These posters were commissioned by the Committee on Public Information’s Division of Pictorial Publicity. This committee was created by President Woodrow Wilson in 1917. Posters were designed in part to encourage support for the war, promote patriotism, and encourage sacrifice among citizens.
