Volunteer Appreciation Party 2014
WHW hosted its volunteers at a star studded event held at the Center Club in Costa Mesa on Wednesday, February 26th to celebrate the over 17,000 hours of services they contributed in 2013. At this event the spotlight was on the volunteers who entered the event by walking and being photographed on the red carpet. The short program included a video featuring the impact volunteers have on WHW clients and announcement of the Corporate, Fundraising and Program Volunteers of the Year. State Street who supports the organization financially as well as with hands on volunteer projects four times a year was named Corporate Volunteer of the Year. Sherri Wiseman of Pacific Life was name Fundraising Volunteer of the Year and has been responsible for raising over $70,000 to support the organization. She has also participated on the Board of Directors, Advisory Board and Friends Event Planning Committee. Anna Szymanski, who has volunteered at WHW every week for over ten years to process clothing donations, was named Program Volunteer of the Year. The program ended with a group toast to all the volunteers who work toward empowering employment success for disadvantaged and low-income job seekers. Guests then enjoyed passed hor’dourves, a fajita station, received a certificate, framed photos of their red carpet pose and swag bags filled with high end hair products donated by Hoyu America. “We could not do what we do with our volunteers,” said WHW Director of Programs, Robyn Williams. “Our volunteers are part of the WHW family and they are our friends.”
