Conservatory of Music, University of the Pacific
First established in Santa Clara in 1851 as California Wesleyan College, the University of the Pacific is the oldest chartered school in the state. It moved to Stockton in 1923. The university is known for its law school and music school, with alumni including famed jazz musician Dave Brubeck (of Take Five fame), who also released an album Jazz at the College of the Pacific . The school also holds the papers of John Muir. Due to its lush, wooded campus and brick-heavy buildings, the University of the Pacific is also known for being depicted in numerous films, most notably as the college where Indiana Jones teaches archeology at in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
