DD Form 1AF: Officer Commissioning Certificate (United States Air Force)

Upon Presidential Nomination 33-103 confirmed by the United States Senate by Unanimous Consent on March 11, 1993, I received an officer commissioning certificate similar to this one.

 

The language reads the same:

 

THE

PRESIDENT

OF

THE UNITED STATED OF AMERICA

 

To all who shall see these presents, greeting:

 

Know Ye, that reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of Rauhmel Fox Robinson, I do appoint him a Second Lieutenant in the Regular United States Air Force to rank as such from the 2nd day of June, nineteen hundred and ninety-three.

 

This Officer will therefore carefully and diligently discharge the duties of the office to which appointed by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging.

 

And I do strictly charge and require those Officers and other personnel of lesser rank to render such obedience as is due an officer of this grade and position. And this Officer is to observe and follow such orders and directives, from time to time, as may be given by me, or the future President of the United States of America, or other Superior Officers acting in accordance with the laws of the United States of America.

 

This commission is to continue in force during the pleasure of the President of the United States of America for the time being, under the provisions of those Public Laws relating to Officers of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and the component thereof in which this appointment is made.

 

Done at the City of Washington, this 11th day of March in year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and ninety-three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and eighteenth.

The certificate is signed by the Secretary of the Air Force and attested by the Chief of Staff, Personnel (USAF).

 

Oath of Office:

 

I, Rauhmel Fox Robinson, having been appointed a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foriegn and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the office upon which I am about to enter. So help me God.

 

Title 10 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 8583. Requirement of exemplary conduct:

 

All commanding officers and others in authority in the Air Force are required--

(1) to show in themselves a good example of virtue, honor, patriotism, and subordination;

(2) to be vigilant in inspecting the conduct of all persons who are placed under their command;

(3) to guard against and suppress all dissolute and immoral practices, and to correct, according to the laws and regulations of the Air Force, all persons who are guilty of them; and

(4) to take all necessary and proper measures, under the laws, regulations, and customs of the Air Force, to promote and safeguard the morale, the physical well-being, and the general welfare of the officers and enlisted persons under their command or charge.
