      As a little aside, the palm shown here is likely to be a kentia palm (Howea forsteriana) which I believe was not introduced into cultivation until the second half of the 19th century, and even when this photograph was taken it was likely to be something of a novelty!

      I'll bet they took a while to get ready, there's some extreme corsetry going on here. Is the lace handkerchief in the hat and tucked in the front of the dress symbolic or just decorative?
