These Boots are made for Walking - Thursday, 26th May, 2016
As part of the Bristol Walking Festival the St George Strollers created this 3 mile health walk that included visits to the former sites of two of George Bryant Britton's boot factories. The information given was based on the book by David Bolton "Made in Bristol - 50 stories of Local Enterprise and Invention", now sadly out of print but available from St George Library. A 1900s map was shared of the walkers showing the sites of the locations. 29 walkers joined us on the walk through beautiful Magpie Bottom, sharing memories of the Britton factories and discovering a route new to many of our walkers that returned us back to Magpie Bottom. Thank you to the Jolly Sailor who made their upstairs bar available to us for refreshments and lunch.
