Wampum
This is a replica of the famous wampum signifying friendship with Penny and the Lenni Lenape tribe. Penn tried to have a peaceful and respectful relationship with the native population, but brought over many European the prejudices with him. He never quite grasped that the natives had extremely different understandings of land ownership than that of an English gentleman. Sadly, Penn's immediate descendants, and many of the settlers lacked even Penn's enlightened naivety and deliberately cheated the natives.
