Female American Kestrel
This lovely lady was a photographic first for me. I've seen these striking birds on many fence posts and telephone poles in Point Reyes National Seashore, but without fail they always took off long before I could get close enough to get my lens on them. However, this was a very friendly bird that stayed within range for about 5 minutes as she moved back and forth between two fence posts. Eventually she took off for a post further from the road, but what a treat it was to have a chance to photograph her.
