Quail at Tomales Point
I'm back after a few weeks of conferences, traveling to Europe, visiting family, and getting back to the grind at work. Finally I'm taking a few minutes to toss up an image that I took in May near the Tomales Point Trailhead in Point Reyes. The male quails were calling out everywhere in the area, making a big effort to be as conspicuous as possible in the hope that a female will notice them. This makes for a great chance to photograph these striking birds out in the open, such as this one on an old log.
