Day 106 - West Midlands Police - Traffic Car Equipment

This photo shows some of the specialist equipment used by traffic cars and officers.

The main equipment on show is a portable ANPR machine that comes complete with front and rear cameras.

This piece of kit automatically scans number plates when turned on and can quickly ping to show uninsured, untaxed or wanted vehicles.

The smaller pad on the left of the photo shows the blue light control. This can be set at different speeds as well as font / back controls.

The device above the ANPR screen is a radio to speak with other traffic officers and contact centres.

If you compare this to the photo uploaded yesterday, you will see that although the cars have changed, they still use sirens and police radios.

This image forms part of the West Midlands Police 'Photo of the Day 2012' project.

We will be adding a new photo every day of the year to highlight the breadth of work carried out by police officers and staff across the West Midlands.
