Day 68 - West Midlands Police – Cars donated to motor mechanic students in Erdington
Officers from north Birmingham have donated cars once linked to criminal activity to motor mechanics students. Thanks to this donation, students signed up to Erdington based Merlin Training's vocational courses will now be able to learn how to strip, rebuild and service engines on cars.
Thirty students, currently working towards a National Open College Network (NOCN) certificate in Construction and Building, have so far taken delivery of a Ford Puma car. The car was seized by officers from a motorist driving without insurance.
This was the first vehicle of many that will now be available to trainee mechanics thanks to the partnership between the police, Merlin Venture and Beeches Recovery.
Pictured are PC Alan Mack with Chris O'Rourke and mechanic tutor Mick Spencer with Ian McDowell.
