Army Softball sweeps Lafayette with shutouts by freshman pitcher Morgan Lashley
Army Softball clinched a berth to the Patriot League Tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Lafayette April 20 at the Softball Complex. Freshman pitcher Morgan Lashley fired a pair of shutouts, 2-0 and 4-0, to help Army complete its fifth conference doubleheader sweep of the season. The Black Knights (31-15) stretched its league win streak to nine for a 13-3 mark with another sweep April 21 in earning its third straight bid to the league tournament under head coach Michelle DePolo. It’s the fourth time in school history that Army has exceeded 30 wins in a season. Lashley has not allowed a run over a span of 36 innings dating back to the final game of the Bucknell series April 15 as she added two more shutout wins April 21. She has now won 27 games this season, which is two shy of Army’s all-time mark of 29 set in 1988. All baseball photos by Eric S. Bartelt/Pointer View (West Point Public Affairs).
