Branch Week_35

A crew of 15 Soldiers arrived at South Dock aboard the Brandy Station 2005, a Landing Craft Utility 2000 class transport cargo board, from Fort Eustis, Va., for the U.S. Military Academy’s Branch Week.

Among the Transportation Corps representatives from the 97th Transportation Company, 10th Transportation Battalion, were Capt. Kathryn Parker, the regimental plans and operations officer, Chief Warrant 2 Paula Buckley, the vessel master, Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin Threatt, first mate, and Pfc. Jason Dixon, engineer. They also transported the Ordnance Soldiers and their equipment participating in Branch Week from Fort Lee, Va.

The Soldiers conducted tours of the boat for cadets and explained the training and operations conducted by members of the Transportation Corps. The Army has 35 LCUs but only 7 are currently on active-duty status and belong to the 97th Transportation Co. Although Army mariners operate all over the world, many don’t even know they exist.
