The Seven Sisters, Sussex, England, UK
The Seven Sisters are iconic chalk cliffs facing English Channel in Sussex, England. The South Downs Way, a 100 mile walking route, runs in part along the edge of the cliffs.
The Cuckmere Haven coastguard's cottages are in the foreground. Birling Gap is the deep dip in the cliff face in the distance. Beyond, on top of the hill, is Belle Tout lighthouse.
Evidence of cliff-falls after the strong storms of winter 2013/2014, when hurricane-force winds regularly topped 100 mph, can be seen at the foot of the cliffs. The cottages at Birling Gap are being demolished because of dangerous erosion caused by these storms.
