‘Reducing our carbon emissions is a matter of climate justice, as our poorest neighbours in Africa, Asia, South America and other parts of the world are hardest hit by a changing climate’ – Rt Rev James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool and founder of the Carbon Fast.
Here at Chapter One, we do our best to be conscious of the effect of our actions on people and the planet. So during Lent this year, we are taking on Tearfund’s Carbon Fast. The brilliant thing about the Carbon Fast is that everyone can get involved! Even taking on a few small actions – such as riding your bike or taking public transport to work, cleaning your house using natural ingredients, or buying your next ‘new’ outfit at a charity shop – can make a difference. For each week of Lent, Tearfund have suggested one particular action to take on if you can’t manage to do everything.
'Join the church’s response to climate injustice this Lent and help lighten our global neighbours' load and care for God’s creation with a carbon detox' – tearfund's carbon fast
