White-winged Dove Feeding on Fruit-2

White-winged Dove Feeding on Fruit-2

This picture shows a White-winged Dove actually getting at the pulp of a fruit. Every year these doves migrate from Mexico and Central America to the Southwest during the spring and summer seasons. Their “who cooks for you” cooing song is a commonly heard sound during Southwestern springs and summers. Visitors to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix really enjoy seeing and hearing these beautiful birds as they feed on the ripe Saguaro cactus fruits.
