The Hague Dec 2018 – International Criminal Court Assembly of States Parties side event
On 10 December 2018, the Wayamo Foundation and the Africa Group for Justice and Accountability (AGJA) hosted a side event, showcasing their ongoing capacity building workshops in Nigeria, implemented in conjunction with the International Nuremberg Principles Academy, under the title: “Strengthening Justice and Accountability in Nigeria.”

The pursuit of justice for complex international crimes is difficult at the best of times. Rarely, however, do ideal conditions for investigations and prosecutions present themselves. Creative thinking, new tools, and collaborative partnerships between actors at all levels are thus required to achieve meaningful accountability for victims and survivors of atrocities, particularly at the national level.

Coinciding with the release of the ICC Office of the Prosecutor’s annual report on Preliminary Examinations, this side event explored the use of creative measures to achieve the goals of complementarity.
