Come to the Fair

Newer Older

Out of the four I own in this series, this was the only one where they cut out a hole in the middle to be able to see the title of the record. Nice effect, and nice composition. Oh, and nice characters. No mention of artist.

Hey Ward.. I bet you've been asked this, but do you have a huge scanner? The little bit of black I see in the corners would suggest that... What make/model is it if you don't mind? I'm thinking of making the move to a larger-than-letter/A4 scanner myself. Thanks!

Endless Mike, sorry it's taken me awhile to get back to you on your question. I do not have a big scanner. It's a rather normal size scan bed. I just scan the 10 inch record twice, to get both sides, and then Photoshop the images together, seemlessly. I have a ScanWise by the way. Not too bad.

This is marvelous! I'm surprised no one has started a 'Children's Records' pool. Someday one of us should.

I have some information concerning the artist who created the cover art for "Come to the Fair", "Riddle Me This," "The Chugging Freight Engine," and many more Children's Record Guild covers. His name is Abe Ajay (1919-1998). This information (and more) can be found in the 2008 book "Revolutionizing Children's Records, 1946-1977: The Young People's Records and Children's Record Guild Series" by David Bonner.
