Ward, any idea who did this iconic illo? Tibor Gergely maybe?

On a side note... my kid sister took painting lessons in the late 70s from a painter named Mr. Gergely. He had her paint ( among other things ) Disney and kid's book characters. So I mistakenly thought for many years he might have been Tibor Gergely.

I wish I knew, Glen! This is great stuff.

That would've been wild if it was, indeed, THE Tibor Gergely.

Yeah, but seeing as he was teaching from his house in Nanaimo B.C. in the late 70s I strongly doubt it.

I remember looking at these end papers on the Golden Books and wanting to read all the stories they portrayed. I recognized the tug boat and the train. Those were boys books; I never read them.

I especially wanted to read the book with the little black stripey kitten. Which one was that?

  6. wardomatic 72 months ago | reply

I believe he's from "The Three Little Kittens".

I can see three of Tibor Gergely's characters. It's a compilation of LGB illustrators.
