São Paulo - Bela Vista: Call Parade - Call Vivo São Paulo
Call Vivo São Paulo, one of the decorated orelhões of Call Parade located at Avenida Paulista 1374, was designed by artist Maramgoní.
Call Parade is a public arts project that brought together 100 different artists to decorate existing orelhões around the city of São Paulo. The 100 orelhões, distributed in eight different circuits, hit the streets between May 20 and June 24, 2012. Ninety of the artists were selected by a committee, with the last 10 invited by a committee custodian.
The orelhão, or big ear, are the fiberglass Brazilian fiberglass phone booths originally designed in 1971 by Chu Ming Silveira, a naturalized Brazilian architect born in Shanghai and head of the Building Engineering Department at Companhia Telefônica Brasileira. The first orelhões were installed in Rio de Janiero and São Paulo in 1973.
