Denver - Cherry Cricket North: Cherry Cricket

Cherry Cricket, located at 2641 East 2nd Avenue in Cherry Creek North, was originally opened as Mary Zimmerman's Bar in 1945. The bar was actually the living room of Mary Zimmerman's home until 1950, when she purchased the property at 2nd and Clayton. After Zimmerman died in the early 60's, the Cricket changed owners a couple times before ending up in the hands of Bernard Duddy, who added the neon sign and introduced the $2.50 rib lunch buffet. In 1990, Eli McGuire and her husband bought the Cricket, escalating the restaurant above local "dump." After Eli passed in 2000, Wynkoop Holdings bought the landmark. Today it draws a crowd ranging from high-powered suits to sports fans, all looking for the famous Cricket burgers--made to order, with enough add-on's to satisfy the most adventurous for weeks.
