Disney World: Wilderness Lodge - Fire Rock Geyser
Fire Rock Geyser, a 120-foot artificial geyser fashioned to look like Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful, erupts every hour on the hour at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Shortly after the Lodge opened, some guests with courtyard view rooms complained that wind was blowing water from the geyser onto their balconies, so Disney World installed a wind gauge which adjusts the height of the water based on wind speed.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge opened on Bay Lake in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area in 1994. The resort was designed by Peter Dominick with a theme of the Pacific Northwest turn-of-the-century National Park Lodges in the Pacific Northwest and more specifically modeled after the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park.
