Philadelphia - Logan Circle: Sister Cities Park - Don Diego De Gardoqui

The statue of Don Diego De Gardoqui, located in Sister Cities Park in Logan Circle, was designed by sculptor Luis Antonio Sanguine around 1977 as a gift of Juan Carlos I and the Government of Spain to the City of Philadelphia.

Diego María de Gardoqui y Arriquibar (1735-1798) was a Spanish politician and diplomat. Diego de Gardoqui served as a financial intermediary during the Revolutionary War, helping bring funds and arms from Spain to America, and became Spain’s first ambassador to the United States.
