NYC: Jacob & Co.
Jacob Arabo opened his first flagship store of Jacob & Co. at 48 East 57th Street in December 2004. Arabo, a Russian immigrant, got his start designing for labels and private clients from a small booth in the Diamond District. In 1986, he launched the brand of Jacob & Co. His big break came in the mid-90's when Faith Evans and Notorious BIG began recommending them to their friends in the industry. Quickly "Jacob the Jeweler" became the go to guy for the entertainment industry elite.
The store, whose concept was developed by Peter Arnell and Arnell Group Innovation Lab, is designed to look like the inside of a diamond mind. The state of the art complex is modeled after Strata--the natural rock formations in which gems are found--and includes a retail area, private consultation rooms, and VIP lounge complete with 50 LED flat-screen televisions
