New Orleans - French Quarter: Avart-Peretti House
Tennessee Williams lived at the Avart-Peretti House, at 632 St. Peter Street, from 1946-47. It was here that he penned A Streetcar Named Desire.
The two-story brick townhouse was erected in 1842 for Madam Augustine Eugenie de Lassize, widow of Louis Robert Avart, by J.N.B. De Pouilly and Ernest Goudchaux. From 1906 to 1923 it was the residence and studio of the artist Achille Peretti.
