Race and ethnicity: Dallas

I was astounded by Bill Rankin's map of Chicago's racial and ethnic divides and wanted to see what other cities looked like mapped the same way. To match his map, Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, Orange is Hispanic, Gray is Other, and each dot is 25 people. Data from Census 2000. Base map © OpenStreetMap, CC-BY-SA

I put a correction to this map. North East block someone tagged as "Lake Highlands." That is incorrect. That is the Richardson/North Garland area.

The Lake Highlands block is south of 635, in Dallas proper. It's lake highlands, not North Garland. Richardson and N. Garland are outside 635.

The notes on this map are way off

Be great if they could put this onto a map like from google maps which showed the names of the different areas of the city

jynclr's note is correct. The hard turn south of the in the highway indicates that is 190, so Richardson/North Garland is correct. The big blotch of blue is 635 in the south east corner of "north Dallas" is 635.

Impressive. I thought there would be more Hispanics represented in this area, just from looking at regular maps. I like this project.

Replaced with new image that represents the shapes of census blocks accurately.
