World map of geotagged pictures

    Each pixel in "original" size is 5 square miles.

    The darkest pixels are where a geotagged picture was posted in May, 2004, the oldest data I have, and get lighter and lighter by month for places where the oldest available picture is more and more recent. The areas that are totally white have no geotagged pictures at all.

      By the way Jef, thanks for making PGM, which made it much easier for me to generate this image!

      It is surprising that Flickr doesn't have their own version of this map, as many other statistics as they publicize.
