I'm making a batch of garlic dill pickles. They'll be ready in three weeks.

My first couple of batches this year went awry. (Turns out that you can't make pickles in a metal container, because the acid will eat right through the metal.) This batch I feel good about.

      Mmm....pickles...

Mmmmmmm...They look good! I presume home grown cucumbers and perhaps dill? Did you grow the garlic as well or just a local farmers market purchase? I have actually tried "pickled garlic" before as well and it was quite yummy, so if the pickles turn out good, try eating the garlic too.

They are not home grown cucumbers or dill, sadly. Our pickling cucumbers just haven't produced yet, and we didn't plant any dill. We got both from the farmer's market. (And the garlic.) After I made pickles last year, I ended up eating the garlic and, damn that was tasty. :)
