Voices from Israeli Jewish and Palestinian Students: Finding Commonalities and Mutual Understanding

Shortly after the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel and the onset of the war in Gaza, Bob Vogel, Professor Emeritus of Education at La Salle University, was asked to design and facilitate an eight-week Writers Matters program with Israeli Jewish and Palestinian students and teachers living in Israel. Students were engaged in dialogue and weekly writing assignments, and wrote personal narratives and poetry, sharing their writing among each other. Their responses were powerful, reflective, and captured the raw emotions and deep fears and feelings being experienced daily as they lived life during war.
