Off the Radar: A Father’s Secret, a Mother’s Heroism, and a Son’s Quest, Featuring Cyrus Copeland, September 10, 2015

by World Affairs Council of Philadelphia

Cyrus Copeland was the teenage son of an American father and an Iranian mother, living in Iran when the Revolution broke out thirty-five years ago. As more than 50 hostages were seized at the American Embassy, Cyrus’s father, Max, was almost simultaneously arrested on espionage charges and accused of being a CIA agent. Cyrus Copeland comes to the Council to tell his riveting story of espionage, covert operations, and family loyalties. The ultimate question, “Was my dad a spy?,” is finally answered in his book, Off the Radar: A Father’s Secret, A Mother’s Heroism, and a Son’s Quest.

Cyrus Copeland's remarks were followed by a facilitated Q+A session led by Max Conaboy, Vice President at Aon Risk Services and Board Member at Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) as part of the The Ajay Raju Millennial Membership & Program Series.
