Congressman Paul Ryan at the Council - August 20, 2014

Congressman and former Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan (R-WI) visited the Council to discuss his political vision for 2014 and beyond as described in his recently published book, "The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea" Congressman Ryan was joined in conversation with Michael Smerconish, radio personality on SiriusXM Channel 124 and the host of CNN’s “Smerconish” on Saturday mornings. Congressman Ryan explained why he feels conservatism is essential for America’s future and discussed the challenges the GOP had in reaching a majority of voters in the 2012 election. His book and his talk examined the state of the Republican party and its future, emphasizing his belief in conservatism and its ideals.
