by World Affairs Council of Philadelphia

One year after the death of Osama bin Laden and amid enormous challenges including incidents involving U.S. military personnel and Afghan citizens, failed negotiations with the Taliban, and growing strains in the relationship with neighboring Pakistan, the U.S. Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Ambassaor Marc Grossman, joined the Council on May 10 to offer an assessment of the current situation in the region before he joins other international world leaders and heads of state for the Chicago NATO Summit on May 20.

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Foreign Affairs columnist, Trudy Rubin, joined Ambassador Grossman to discuss recent events in the critical South Asia region, as well as prospects for the stabilization and autonomy of Afghanistan after the departure of NATO troops.
