Rick Steves at the World Affairs Council, November 8, 2009
Popular travel writer and PBS host, Rick Steves, is an outspoken advocate of “thoughtful” travel who believes in helping Americans to become “model citizen diplomats” – broadening their perspectives through travel and returning with an expanded understanding of the interconnectedness of today’s world… and just how our nation fits in.
Known primarily for his books and TV series on European travel, Rick Steves recently produced and hosted a ground-breaking public television travel special about Iran, going beyond the politics to highlight the country’s history, culture and, most important, its people. He joins us to discuss the concept of "travel as a political act" and share how his travels have shaped his politics and broadened his perspective.
The Council thanks its event partner, WHYY, for its support of this program.
