Hilda Moody.

Postcard #1514D of the Rotary Photographic Series featuring a photograph by Kilpatrick of Hilda Moody as 'O Mimosa' in 'The Geisha [a story in a tea house]' at Daly's Theatre, London during 1897.

Born in Redruth, Cornwall, Hilda Moody was the sister of Fanny Moody and hence the sister-in-law of Charles Manners.

She joined D'Oyly Carte Opera Company during March 1896 singing the role of ‘Lisa’ in The Grand Duke. She also sang the role of ‘Princess Zara’ in Utopia Limited before leaving the company at the end of the year.

Over the next seven years she appeared on the stage in various theatres including Daly’s, The Apollo and the Prince of Wales.

She also toured with the Moody-Manners Opera Company and returned with them to sing in London during 1907 – one of her roles being ‘Musetta’ in La Boheme.
