Into the Rabbit Hole

View on Black

The Capitol of Iowa is a 330,000 sq ft (or larger) building that is home to some of the best art and most amazing architecture that you can find. This spiral staircase is one of several different ones throughout the building. There are two sides to the structure, one for the House and another for the Senate. This was on the Senate side shooting all the way down to the basement (from halfway up the dome).

This was made with the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT. It has an extended arm that I was able to hang out over the middle of the staircase. The tripod did great - the longest exposure was over 10 seconds. I did use a remote shutter release, but there was still no movement in the camera.
