This year has been a bit of a disappointment for those of you that follow the bald eagles at Lock and Dam 14. I've been practicing my coping skills, but it just hasn't been easy. I decided to edit some pictures from last year to make me feel better.

This was take with a Canon 7d and 100-400L at Lock and Dam 14. The best time to go is when it is (really) cold. Typically January and Feb have great populations of eagles diving on fish just a few yards from your camera. It's worth the trip, and it costs way less than Alaska. As an added bonus, you can stop in and say hello to the "American Pickers" from the History Channel - their store is just 10 minutes from here.

All is not lost for 2012 - but if you don't make it this year be sure to plan a weekend trip next winter. Below are some links you should check out if you are interested.
