2019 VA Underwear Distribution
VVA Chapter 310, Rolling Thunder Michigan Chapter 5, and First United Methodist Church- Greenwood Campus all gathered to distribute tee shirts, underwear and pajamas to the patients of the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Along with the underwear, Christmas cards were distruted to each patient. These cards were collected by the Dexter United Methodist Church and given to Chapter 310. The volunteers go to each room that is allowed visitors and asks if they would like underwear, and if the answer is yes, they are also asked their size. They are also given a flyer from VVA and a Christmas card. We also try to spend a little time sitting and chatting with them if they will allow it. VVA Chapter 310 member John Kinzinger has spearheaded this project for many years. He spends around $4000 each year for these items. It is paid for by generous donations from around the country. Any underwear that is left over (usually a good amount is left) is given to the VA Volunteer Services to be given to other patience as they enter the system.
If you would like to donate to fund which is only used to assist Veterans and active duty military personnel, you can write a check to VVA Chapter 310 and write VAMC in the memo.
