CCC Camp P-57 Company 1389
These photos were taken at the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in Bath County, Virginia, probably during the 1930s. While we are able to identify the name and location of this Camp, and the company number, we know very little about it or the names of the men who worked there. We do not know the original photographer,

If you can contribute any information about these images, we welcome your comments.

The Hot Springs Camp, located along Route 39, was part of a national program to put young men to work during the Depression. Over 64,000 Virginia youths were employed by the CCC. The War Department ran most of the camps.

Virginia benefited tremendously from this Federal Program. Over its 9 years of existence (1933-1942) the CCC spent $109 million in Virginia, establishing the Virginia state parks system and opening six state parks.
