I'm really pleased with these robin shots because I'd been wondering how to get closer shots of the birds in my garden for a while. The solution is to photograph the right birds because this pair of robins are really tame, and in conjunction with a 500mm lens I could get close shots of them. Then you just need to sit and watch them flying about to see where they land and pre-focus on that, then sit and wait! As I was sat there, one of their chicks was hoping along the ground near me and I almost didn't notice - it was too quick for me to get a photo of it though. These two robins were fetching food continuously through the day so rearing chicks must be a tiring business!
