Coates by Stow church is set in a remote farmyard in the Lincolnshire countryside. It serves a farm and a scattering of cottages. As a consequence of its isolation it has retained most of its pre-Reformation fittings intact. Including a rood with rood loft and projecting Gospel lectern, panelled tympanum decorated with the remains of a rood with attendant figures of Mary and John, a medieval pulpit, easter sepulchre and rustic benches. An amazing and atmospheric building.
