Dorchester Abbey, Oxfordshire

The parish aisle at Dorchester abbey was added for the villagers in the 14th century. The altar is raised up on a series of steps over a vault containing the bones of the dead displaced during the building. The east wall has remnants of medieval wallpaintings, including a rood group that formed the altarpiece.
