Promissory (oh so sorry) note: 1 Bald Eagle to Jon Mott
Otherwise known as a Bald eagle on the near branch is worth two in the nest ahead…
I still am shaking my head that the bald eagle I blithely drove by on River Road outside Ladner (you know, this one - www.flickr.com/photos/vitrain/3760672586/) - that it would end up being the last close eagle we would see for the day.
AAAARRRGGHHH! Sorry Jon!
Any other day we would have seen 3 or 4 more, including the immature characters not a half mile away (these guys - www.flickr.com/photos/vitrain/3760749280/). Were they there? No. The ones at Reifel stayed on the outer foreshore… the ones at Deltaport and 72nd hid….
My eagle karma is normally much better.
Jon… next time you come to Vancouver, I owe you at least one bald eagle – probably more.
Meanwhile, we’ll have to settle for:
Great blue herons, a Downy (possibly Hairy?) Woodpecker, a Bullocks Oriole, multiple Cedar Waxwings, a Sandhill Crane Flyby, Canada Geese, Mallards galore, Wood Ducks, Caspian Terns, Glaucous Winged-Gulls, California Gulls, a Red-tailed Hawk, a couple of northern harriers, 2 Common Loons, Osprey, sandpipers flocking… and one or two more for the day…
