A border Patrol agent watches a small group of border crossers (known as UDA's or Undocumented Aliens) run north from the border. The border was about ten feet behind me when I made this image. Just out of the frame to the right is a large pole that has two video cameras at the top. I could not see how anyone would think that they could be effective is crossing in the middle of the morning and right under the cameras. I was told that there are many reasons for this. Many of the people who try to cross do not know or understand that the objects on the poll are cameras, or what the border patrol looks like. Most people are at the mercy of the guide that they have hired.....who will sometimes just point them in the "right" direction then turn around and head back to the border.

The agent in this image was directing the movements of two other agents on ATVs on a road just at the base of the hill in the distance. In this way the agents were able to position themselves in the area that the North running group would cross the road. They were later caught.
