Manhattan - Fifth Avenue Mirror

A shot of a window at Bergdorff & Goodman on Fifth Avenue luxuriating in the play of window reflections and the additional reflections in the large, ornately framed mirror to the left.

A mannequin, a plastic approximation of a human being seems to stare at herself in the mirror, but vampire-like, she does not see herself. Instead a many faceted world looks back at her. Some, very few, stop to include themselves in the pictures they take of her. Some, included in the multiverse, simply pass by unknowing. Mirrors and mirrors, reflections and reflections. Many possible and probable worlds ... simultaneously.

Music Link: "All Tomorrow's Parties", Nico and The Velvet Underground. How much more New York can you get than the Velvets? I thought that the song was a rich, ironic fit to this image from an Uptown window, all the while telling the story of Downtown tristesse.

This extraordinary video includes the lyrics to the song over some remarkable footage of Nico herself, various wonderful shots of New York, and chillingly, the ill-fated, tragic figure of Edie Sedgwick.
