Music Box Steps | by VHein

Music Box Steps what the sign says...a block south of Sunset on Vendome, on a narrow side street, is an important Los Angeles cultural site...the original location for Laurel and Hardy's 1932 film, "The Music Box", which I think is the only film for which they ever won an Academy Award (hard to believe!)...what a treasure, though an abandoned door and roll of carpet greet you at the's used by people walking their dogs, etc. Film fans regularly visit, and are probably surprised by how unassuming it is...and wonder how they ever got a piano up those steps!

Los Angeles, California

pencil, watercolor and gouache (black and white in their honor)

The lovely Spanish-style house on the right was there back in 1932, but the property on the left was a grassy empty lot...
