The 5th Youth Fishing Adventure gave 217 Peninsula-area children and chaperones a chance to go fishing aboard the vessels of some members of the Virginia Charter Boat Association. The children caught croaker, spot, ribbon fish and black sea bass, which were tagged by volunteers from the Virginia Game Fish Tagging Program. After fishing, participants gathered in downtown Hampton to enjoy lunch, educational displays and the awards ceremony for the essay contest “How can one person change the Bay?” Primary sponsors for the event included the Virginia Charter Boat Association, VMRC Saltwater Recreational Fishing Development Fund, City of Hampton, and Bass Pro Shops.
