Overlooking Paradise

Press L!

Certainly one of the most gorgeous views to be had in RMNP made even better by a heavy dusting of fresh snow! It was great to get out and shoot on such a calm and peaceful morning. Days without wind are rare in the winter! That was made abundantly clear when we hiked up Flattop mountain on Saturday morning and were greeted by these wonderful conditions.

It took me a while to convince myself that this was decent enough to post, so if you'd like please rip this photo apart in the comments. I want to become a better photographer!

Not much to rip apart this is pretty great! Maybe a little overblown where the sun is hitting the mountain? But that is a tough thing to avoid, and I had to search to find it. Its really awesome in all!
And yep I was up on Friday night/Sat morning, not nearly as serene as this shot was. And you guys had the tougher spot too!

Beautiful light in this photo. I really like the detail you were able to capture in the foreground snow. What a perfect scene.

Thanks! I focus stacked to get that detail in the foreground.

No doubt, a far more peaceful alternative you saw in the photo than in the video!! I love that golden light against the soft snowy foreground... A very pretty scene and I think the focus stacking worked really well here.

Beautiful. I like the color cast on the snow balanced against the warmth of sunrise on the peaks

great video too! Reminds me of a few hikes I recall. It's actually really fun to be out when it's that intense, even though impossible to take photos or practically to see anything :-)

Large on black is even better. The foreground is a bit plain compared to all the detail in the background.
