Walking (Sainte-Thérèse 2013)
From Dépôt de mémoire : Human Encounters Map, my extended residence project with Praxis Art Actuel in Sainte-Thérèse, QC, May - October 2013.

Performance process:
Walking as a process is an important aspect of my practice. Walking with others, exploring sites with people from the places where I am visiting is indeed a privileged activity. This time spent together, in conversation and in silence is extremely precious. Getting to know a landscape in connection with someone else creates a whole other dimension and relationship to place.

This project, a one-on-one performative transaction, was specifically about discovering Sainte Thérèse through meeting with local inhabitants: I issued a call prior to arrival, inviting any willing citizen of this city to take me to see a site that holds meaning for them. Through this process, we collaboratively created an ephemeral "map of human encounters."
