Colorado roadside vista under late afternoon light... Autumn, 2011
Heading into Durango after a day of shooting aspens and mountain scenery, I spotted some of our Photo Tour of Colorado workshop participants and our leaders, John Barclay and Dan Sniffin parked on the side of the road.
So I pulled over to see what they were shooting and found this scene greeting me. I'd have waited for sunset if I hadn't been starving and didn't want to miss the 8 PM dinner reservation in town. As it was nearing sundown, the fading light made it difficult to get proper exposure for the entire vista.
Gear: Nikon D90; Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens; ISO 160 at f/16; 1 exposure each at 1/10, 0.5 and 1.6 sec were combined using Nik's HDR Efex Pro.
