Clouded Sulphur on Spotted Knapweed... Montana, 2011.

I'm reasonably certain that I have the correct ID for both the butterfly and the wildflower... seen between the Silver Run parking lot and the creek on the West Fork of Rock Creek near Red Lodge, MT.

Since I decided to travel without my macro lens, I'm experimenting with shooting macro with a telephoto lens... this image was done from a distance of between 10-12 feet using a 1.4x tele-converter with my 70-300mm telephoto lens. (1/1000 sec at f/8, ISO 320)

I'm traveling for the next couple of weeks and will try to visit but am not making any promises that I cannot keep. As always, I'm appreciative of your visits. Have a great week-end wherever you are… it's a bit gloomy here in Red Lodge, MT today so I'm indoors doing household chores rather than out enjoying the countryside.
